The Brighton Comedy Festival has teamed up with the comedy channel Dave, and this year runs from October 05 – 20.
The traditional opening night Gala at Brighton Dome, in aid of Sussex Beacon, is once again being hosted by Alan Carr, who will be will be accompanied by Jo Brand, the Abandoman, Paul Chowdhry, local boys Seann Walsh and Simon Evans, plus a few more surprise guests to be announced. The festival, which attracts around 30,000 visitors during its 16 day run, will continue its expansion into Hove and beyond this year with events in the Brighton Dome, Pavilion Theatre and Corn Exchange as well as The Old Market and Komedia. The festival will also be launching its first ever comedy new talent competition called The Squawkers with a series of heats being held throughout Brighton in September in association with Komedia and Jill Edwards Comedy workshops/Comic Boom. Budding comics can sign up for the competition until the end of July and winners receive a cash prize with the opportunity to perform at the Best of the Fest show on the final night of the Festival.
