The New Old ABBA track
I was unexpectedly excited when I saw the headline ‘ABBA to Release First New Song in 18 Years’ on the Rolling Stone website. New song? They must have reformed! How did they entice Agnetha out of hiding? But no, the new track is in fact an old unreleased track, ‘From a Twinkling Star to a Passing Angel,’ a demo recorded around the time of the group’s classic album, The Visitors, in 1981. A demo? Is that it?
A deluxe edition of The Visitors is to be released in April. There’s a DVD and 7 additional tracks to the original 9 track album – if you remember the b-side ‘You Owe Me One’ that’s no doubt an indication of what is to come with “the most sensational inclusion” of a demo track … Check back for a Polari review of this classic.
The Visitors is a great album, if you forget about the truly dreadful ‘Two For The Price Of One’. If you’re an ABBA completist this release is something to anticipate.
