Jonathan Kemp teaches creative writing and comparative literature at the University of London, Birkbeck College. His first novel, London Triptych, was published in August 2010 and won the Author’s Club Best First Novel Award. “Three men, three lives and three eras sinuously entwine in a dark, unsettling narrative of sex, exploitation and dependence set against London’s strangely constant gay underworld”.
His second book Twentysix is a meditation on sex and language in the traditions of Genet, Bataille and Acker.
Tonight he will read extracts from his books and discuss his work in the context of “Queer Humanism”.
