Featured Song – Day 25
Sleazy old Suede were of course the early-‘90s gay Indie kids’ band of choice, so when their musical maestro Bernard Butler quit and hooked up with golden-throated heavenly body and ex-Thieves mainman David McAlmont the results were eagerly anticipated by the throngs of shell-toe wearing, Adidas-adorned scenesters down on the dancefloors of the newly-opened alternative night Popstarz. But it’s unlikely anybody expected anything quite this epic, quite so instantly classic-sounding. Strings swoop and soar, McAlmont gives the command performance of a lifetime and the whole thing just keeps building up and up skywards in what feels like a glorious homage to the kind of classic, Dusty-esque ‘60s pop they weren’t supposed to make anymore. Except they did!
