Inevitably… So much has been written about ‘Relax’ over the years it’s difficult to think of anything new to say about it. However, one must never forget how fresh and exciting, how revolutionary this really was at the time – to recall what it was like to savour the delicious sight of shop girls everywhere, chests temporarily emblazoned with the word over baggy Chelsea Girl t-shirts, or of Ford Cortina-driving lads blaring out this hymn to gay sex from their primitive car systems. After ‘Relax’ – lest we forget one of the biggest selling singles of all time – it felt like nobody was going underground EVER again.
